Recently in the UK you may have heard a lot of hype about a new show called Cougar Town which is all about older women in their 40’s and 50’s dating toyboys and younger men old enough to be their sons. The star of the show is Courteny Cox who is famous for playing a lead role in the comedy show Friends. The show has really created a media storm with its brash title and sexy storylines – in fact the tals of older women dating younger guys has now thoroughly become a mainstream topic by the looks of things.
The only criticism that’s been levelled at the show is that its been a bit one sided in that it tends to just show the woman’s perspective rather than that of the guys involved in the dating and relationships. It is a similar story for the show Sex And The City – although both shows have certainly done a lot to improve the image of age gap dating.
A recent survey showed that almost 1/3 of women in their 40s and 50s would be open to dating a toyboy partner who was 5 or more years younger than them selves which is a massive increase on a similar survey that was taken 10 years ago.
